Jiffy Lube changed the oil
on my Mazda 6 and didnt put oil in it. I discovered it the next time
I checked the oil after driving 3800 hundred miles (I put about 400

because I put oil in after discovering it was empty and put miles on

Jeff in Fargo, ND Driving with A Fuel Leak
On 10/26/2009 I
took my vehicle in to the Jiffy Lube on 32nd Ave S. in Fargo ND for an
oil change, upon recommendation from the SAE trained tech I had them
do an engine flush, air filter, cab air filters and change the fuel
filter. The tech told me I would be out the door in 15 to 20
minutes.............An hour later he comes in and tells me they have a
problem with my fuel filter claiming it was the wrong filter on the
vehicle and that it was on backwards, now im not mechanic but I
quickly pointed out to him it would be impossible for it to be on
backwards as one end of the filter had female threads and the other
simply was an extension of the filter that the hose slides
over.........I got no response other than a blank stare. He proceeded
to tell me that they damaged the inside of my fuel line, which I found
out later from my mechanic was of-rings, retainer clips. The problem
was the new filter allowed fuel to leak out substantially when the
engine was running and was informed they could not fix it, so they
sent me out the door with the parting words and I quote " you may want
to keep an out your rear view mirror incase fuel starts streaming out
while your driving" INSANITY to let a customer drive out of your shop
will fuel leaking out from the vehicle. So I call my mechanic when I
get back to my office and he has me bring it over to look at it when
he can. I then proceed to email the 2 owners of the Jiffy Lube and get
a lip service email that one of the partners will be dealing with me
and the store to correct the issue................10 days goes by with
absolutely no response!!! Looking back I should of kept driving the
vehicle until it caught on fire. So today I email them back in disgust
of the non response and the following is the response.......
Jeff,
I have spoken
with John and there appears to be some misinformation as to what
happened. We perform this fuel filter service on a regular basis and
use the correct tools. The issue with your vehicle was not that our
technician was incapable of doing the service or used the wrong
equipment. The damage was done by the installation of the incorrect
fuel filter prior to us servicing it. We can not be
responsible for someone else’s mistake. We discovered the problem, we
did not cause it.
Sincerely,
Karn Jilek
My next step is
to forward this on to corporate Jiffy Lube but am expecting the same
type of horrible customer service, I will also let everyone possible
know what type of service they provide and how they handle customer
issues.......................all this over a 60.00 bill to repair the
fuel line!!

Rebecca in Ohio Car Would Not Start
I went to Jiffy
Lube on 11/30/09 to have my oil changed and my tires rotated. My car
ran fine and I have not had any issues prior to 11/30/09. I turned
off my vehicle and told the service technician what I wanted. Jiffy
Lube started my care and drove it into the bay. They changed the oil
and informed me that I had a headlight out and asked if I wanted a air
filter change. I went ahead and had those things corrected. They
started my car and checked the pressures and everything was fine. I
paid for the service and was told that they would meet me out front
with my car. I waited for my car and it did not move. They could not
get the key to turn in my ignition. They wanted me to have someone
come and pick me up and have my car towed to a auto repair place. I
told them that I should not be responsible for this since my car was
fine until I drove into their shop. They took me to Enterprise rental
car and rented me a vehicle for three days. They also had my car
towed to a local auto repair shop. The auto repair shop could not
tell me what happened to my car and why the key wouldn't turn. He
could not tell me that Jiffy Lube caused the issue or that they didn't
cause the issue. I called customer service who told me that they were
not responsible and would not pay for anything except the rental car.
I escalated that up to a manager and he told me that since my car was
ten years old it was normal wear and tear on the vehicle and the auto
repair shop stated my key and ignition was wore down. I called them
auto repair shop and they stated that after ten years there is normal
wear on any key and ignition but that was not the issue. Jiffy Lube
still refuses to pay for any of the repairs to my vehicle. I drove
into the shop with a perfectly operational car and never drove it back
out of their shop. $600.00 dollars later my car is back in the shape
that it was before I drove it into their shop.

File Criminal Charges
I manage over 20 cars for my
employer and get notified when they need oil changes and services.
Over the last 3mths the drivers sent to get oil changes at Jiffy Lube
returned with bills over $100. New wipers and new air filters with
the routine oil change. Today, I explained to the driver going for an
oil change NOT to get anything other then the oil change. Any
problems call me. He calls after having told Jiffy Lube to only do an
oil change and they still replaced the air filter and wiper blades.
He puts the manager on who
states that he called the number on the back of the company credit
card and got authorization from them. This was a lie… my driver was
told the wiper blades were torn, he asked for the parts replaced and
found no damage, another lie. I explained to this so called manager
that he would not get an more business from our company or anyone else
I can put the word out to. This is pure fraud…. If I could I would
file criminal charges.
Spread the word, stay away
from Jiffy Lube. BBB is next on my list. I will notify them too.

The guy at Jiffy Lube checks me in, and I tell him that I want the
basic oil change only. When I go to pay, I get charged $36.99 for
"signature service" which I did not ask for. What can I do but pay it
since the service has been performed? So I'm left with a $70 oil
change. Ridiculous. Never ever again will I return to Jiffy Lube. Stay
away at all costs.

Ed in Torrance, CA The Manufacturer is
Wrong
I took my car to a
Jiffy Lube about 2 years ago here in Torrance. My regular mechanic is
closed on weekends and I needed it done asap.
I wanted a simple $29.95 oil change, top the fluids, nothing fancy.
I get called in to the service bay by some short, fat kid with a clip
board who has taken the liberty to pull out the differential plug and
starts telling me that this needs to be changed asap for like
$95.00!!!
I don't have this kind of money with me I tell him. "Okay, I can add a
quart because it's low for $19.99". I look at him like he's crazy. I
pull out the service manual that says that it should only be changed
at the major service changes like 60,000 and 90,000 miles. He then
starts going off on some tangent "that they go by the "ASC
recommendations and that sometimes the manufacturer's are wrong?"
Unbelievable!!! Who told this little creep that he could go nosing
around my truck looking for things that aren't broken to "fix"?? No
wonder the California Board of Auto repair has gone after these guys.
Needless to say, I've Never have been back there again and I never
will.

Oil Filter Housing
Took the car in for a routine oil change...have been a long time loyal
customer of Jiffy Lube. When they changed the oil filter on my VW
Jetta, the broke the plastic housing around the filter...(this
according to my Dealer). JL told me I had a pre-existing
transmission leak. The VW Dealer told me the broken oil filter
housing caused the oil to leak. Cost to me...$80.44 to JL, $200
to dealer to replace and refill oil, loss of a day at work. When
I called JL, they would like me to bring the car back to them to take
a look.
Not so sure I trust them anymore....

Austin in South Texas Employee
As a Jiffy Lube employee I
wish I could say all these good things about the store I work at In
south texas. The employees there are not professional or care more or
less what they are doing. The manager in incompetent and gets walked
all over by anyone. I recently graduated from college and was taught
at an early age the value of great service by my father who was
himself a mechanic in deeper south texas. I personally take great
pride in my work at the location I work at and I wish I could say the
same for my other employees.
In a more unfortunate note, I have been at Jiffy Lube for a year and a
half now and am still getting screwed in pay. I am yet to receive a
raise AT ALL and am working at 7.50/hr. I went and got my state of
texas inspector license and did not receive the 50 cent raise the
contract i sign in my application states! I am furious with Jiffy Lube
and the way they handle EVERY problem. Everything is crooked at Jiffy
Lube as well.
Employees not certified do state inspections and sometimes do it
WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING THERE!! their friends call them with the VIN
number and they make up an expiration date for the insurance. In 5
mins they have an inspection sticker to take home with them for their
friend. The state of Texas needs to do some sting operations on every
Jiffy Lube in Texas.
The district managers of South Texas Jiffy Lubes are uneducated as
well. They have no sense of business and the way a business operates
in regards to labor and proper benefits and fair benefits for their
employees. I WILL WHEN I QUIT REPORT ALL CONVERSATIONS I HAD WITH THE
DISTRICT MANAGER OF THE STORE I HAVE BEEN WORKING AT TO THE WORKFORCE
COMMISSION TO RECEIVE MY PROPER BENEFITS I DESERVE!!!!!!!!!!
As an employee I would never take my car to Jiffy Lube. They are
overpriced for the horrible job they do and are unprofessional beyond
belief. Take it from an employee it is horrible to hear that an
ex-employee will not go to the place he works! I heard it best from a
customer who said, "It's not as bad as hearing someone working at a
restaurant who wont eat at their own restaurant!"

Adam in Seattle, WA Replaced Wrong Oil
I had my oil
changed at Jiffy Lube a few months ago. They decided to top off all
fluids (which they hype up as customer service), including putting
some foreign type of oil in my master cylinder and effectively
destroying my clutch and hydralic system. Both my mechanic and myself
can't figure out a way to hold Jiffy Lube liable. I just replaced the
clutch in my car last year. I have less than 8,000 miles on the
clutch. I am beyond upset and mad! I want them (Jiffy Lube) to replace
my clutch and hydralic system.

Bill in Sarasota, FL $1,095 Oil FIlter
Damage
On 5/12/09 I went in for a oil
change at Jiffy Lube here in Sarasota, FL. Location on South Tamimi
Trail. After paying $48.00 for oil change and for paying for a
special oil filter for my 2006 VM Jetta I was told I needed to be
aware of a pre-existing oil leak in the REAR MAIN SEAL. I asked
because my car is still under warranty and I need to let them know
exactly where this so called leak was so I could tell them.
I left and decided that I
would take my car in to see VW to find out if there was a leak. Time
went by and after about Three weeks after my first visit to Jiffy Lube
my oil light came on in my car when I would make left turns, it would
flash three times and then go off. This went on for some time and I
decided to take it back to Jiffy Lube on 08/26/09 where I had
originally had the service done because at this time it was due for
another change. I took it in and this time I told them the oil light
keeps going on and my car is now making a funny noise until it gets
warmed up. They said they would check it out, the service was done
and they came out and said every thing looks fine I said any oil leaks
they said NO, ALL LOOKS GOOD. They noted OIL WAS LOW on my receipt
and I went on my way. Four weeks went by and once again the oil light
came on during left hand turns and the noise started coming back like
I had heard before. I said after putting up with it for another week
to finally go into VW and have them look at it.
I take it in today and find
out after they get it up on the lift that the casing around my oil
filter was probably put on with a pipe wrench because it was all
marred up which VW has a special tool to take off this filter. Once
inside he noticed that the casing that the oil filter screws had a
chunk taken out of it! Broken originally when Jiffy Lube tried to
take it off or put it back on.
This piece has been allowing
oil to slowly drip out of my car and is the reason for the oil light
coming on all the time and had I not taken it in today I could have
seriously hurt my engine! The part the VW need to replace to fix the
problem is going to cost $1095.00. Plus the oil Change there at VW
$101.00

I had time and pulled in. A four bay shop was completely empty

around. after i was approached and asked what could be done and
stated i wanted the oil special i was escorted into a finished area
.information was taken and the service was perdormed all within 15

The work was quick. The gentleman were polite. The job was
done. I checked the oil level at home and will be using this

I had my oil and air filter

I wasn't sure what it could be.
I have a 2006 Mercury Montego with

was near a Ford Dealer. They were great to take my car right in.
Well guess what no air filter at all and the air filter compartment

Northern Colorado Employee
Jiffy Lube is poorly run. That statement should say enough. I am
currently a fellow employee of Jiffy Lube in Northern Colorado and
after a few months of employment I know factually the business is a
flat out joke, even nation wide. I am generally in control of the pit
services or downstairs duties and I assure my work is done correctly
however in the upstairs portion the management is flat unacceptable.
I am embarrassed to have a ASE certification in all 15 fields and be
stuck in an economy downfall job. Jiffy Lube rips off customers and
employees, then takes all benefits and pays the people that have
nothing to do with jack squat in regards to the vehicle. My boss is
only the boss because his father owns the business. Thus he does
"son" type duties in order to please his father. Thus resulting in
pay deduction of employee's for his wrongful decisions. However,
unfortunately for the customers, a bit of there $45 standard oil
change also does the same. Both parties get wrongfully charged. It's
unethical, immature, disrespectful, and just flat out wrong. Making a
skim 35 cents an hours over minimum wage and being a mid 20's young
man, this hurts. On the customers side, being in a poor economy; how
do you feel about paying some unqualified 28 year old your hard earned
money, only for him to turn around and kiss his dad's behind with it?
I encourage everyone to COMPLETELY AVOID Jiffy Lube at all costs.
Just because we wash windows and vacuum carpets, doesn’t mean your
getting any special treatment for your extra money.

Vehicle Transmission Problem
I recently took
my fleet vehicle into the Corvallis Oregon Jiffy Lube for servicing.
They claimed to have checked and verified all vehicle fluid levels
were correct. Less than 10 days later, the automatic transmission
started slipping and shifting hard. I checked the transmission fluid
level and it was 3 quarts low. I filled the transmission and noted
the following morning that there were no fluid leaks. The
transmission started shifting normally and smoothly again. I checked
the fluid level after driving 45 miles to work and the transmission
fluid level was full.
I own three
vehicles and have taken them into the Corvallis Jiiffy Lube since
1994. However, how can a company be trusted with the care of 3
expensive vehicles if they can not be trusted to accomplish a simple
task like checking fluid levels?

Over Torqued Oil Filter
The mechanic evidently used vice
grip pliers on the oil drain plug, since it was disfigured to the
point where I could not place a socket on it. I had changed the oil
several times myself and had always used a socket. It was also screwed
much too tight to the oil pan and was difficult to remove. The
oil filter was screwed on so tight that I could not remove it, using a
standard oil filter wrench.
I called a friend of mine who
is a body builder and well muscled. He tried several times to remove
the filter and could not exert enough force. Finally I had to
jack the car up and put it on jack stands so that a cheater pipe could
be placed on the handle of the filter wrench to exert more force. I
personally still did not have enough strength, so called my body
builder friend again. He pulled so hard that the car shook, but he
succeeded in loosening the filter and removing it. He had to wrap his
legs around a tire to exert enough force.
