[1400] Barbara in Bridgewater, NJ Broke
Filter Housing
Took the car in for a routine oil change...have been a long time loyal
customer of Jiffy Lube. When they changed the oil filter on my
VW Jetta, the broke the plastic housing around the filter...(this
according to my Dealer). JL told me I had a pre-existing
transmission leak. The VW Dealer told me the broken oil filter
housing caused the oil to leak. Cost to me...$80.44 to JL, $200
to dealer to replace and refill oil, loss of a day at work. When
I called JL, they would like me to bring the car back to them to take
a look.
Not so sure I trust them anymore....

South Texas Employee
As a Jiffy Lube
employee I wish I could say all these good things about the store I
work at In south texas. The employees there are not professional or
care more or less what they are doing. The manager in incompetent and
gets walked all over by anyone. I recently graduated from college and
was taught at an early age the value of great service by my father who
was himself a mechanic in deeper south texas. I personally take great
pride in my work at the location I work at and I wish I could say the
same for my other employees.
In a more unfortunate note, I have been at Jiffy Lube for a year and a
half now and am still getting screwed in pay. I am yet to receive a
raise AT ALL and am working at 7.50/hr. I went and got my state of
texas inspector license and did not receive the 50 cent raise the
contract i sign in my application states! I am furious with Jiffy Lube
and the way they handle EVERY problem. Everything is crooked at Jiffy
Lube as well.
Employees not certified do state inspections and sometimes do it
WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING THERE!! their friends call them with the VIN
number and they make up an expiration date for the insurance. In 5
mins they have an inspection sticker to take home with them for their
friend. The state of Texas needs to do some sting operations on every
Jiffy Lube in Texas.
The district managers of South Texas Jiffy Lubes are uneducated as
well. They have no sense of business and the way a business operates
in regards to labor and proper benefits and fair benefits for their
employees. I WILL WHEN I QUIT REPORT ALL CONVERSATIONS I HAD WITH THE
DISTRICT MANAGER OF THE STORE I HAVE BEEN WORKING AT TO THE WORKFORCE
COMMISSION TO RECEIVE MY PROPER BENEFITS I DESERVE!!!!!!!!!!
As an employee I would never take my car to Jiffy Lube. They are
overpriced for the horrible job they do and are unprofessional beyond
belief. Take it from an employee it is horrible to hear that an
ex-employee will not go to the place he works! I heard it best from a
customer who said, "It's not as bad as hearing someone working at a
restaurant who wont eat at their own restaurant!"

I went to a Jiffy Lube off 102nd

needed new windshield wipers and that mine were worn out. I had
replaced those wipers not 1 week earlier. Prior to that I had used a
Jiffy Lube in Vancouver Washington and they told me my wipers were
worn out which they werent. When I left I had 6 big streaks in my
drivers side wiper...they damaged my wipers! I am a woman, I just take
my business elsewhere. Walmart seems good right now.

Track in New Castle, PA Nonresponsive
I had my oil changed at Jiffy
Lube on September 24, 2009, and It will be the last oil change I get
done There. The store is in New Castle, Pa. , 3336 Wilmington Road.
I was greeted by an employee that asked what I needed. I said
that I need an oil change and inquired about windshield wipers. I was
informed someone would check and let me know. I waited at the
entrance for over ten minutes then proceeded to the desk when no one
returned. I waited at the desk for another ten minutes or more.
Several employees came and went, but no one provided an answer to my
request or exactly what services I wanted performed. I then sat on a
bench outside the front door where I could look directly into
the service bay. I waited for probably another twenty minutes, when
my car was pulled out with the door left open and my keys thrown on
the dashboard. I went back to the service desk. An employee finally
came to talk with me. I questioned him about what was done to my car,
since I had not been given the information I requested. The employee
who had long dark hair informed me he was not able to find me, so he
never checked on my wipers or what I wanted done. He must need
glasses since he looked right at my several times while my car was in
the service bay. He read off a list of things they had done to my
car without my consent. I again asked about wipers and he said they
had problems with another car and cars were serviced in the order they
came in. An answer that had nothing to do with the questions asked.
I explained to him that I wanted additional services, but he just
looked at me. I signed my receipt that was briskly offered and turned
to leave. He responded with another rude comment, and I left. I will
not be back, and I will file a complaint with the Better Business
Bureau. I would appreciate a response, but unfortunately do not
expect One. Your employee never clarified what services were being
requested, and when services Were questions responded with poor
excuses.

Sue in Chandler, AZ Windshield Washer Leak
Incident
= Went to Jiffy Lube on 9-9-09 for an oil change on my 07 Nissan
Frontier. No one had been under the hood of my truck till that day.
Everything was working fine until they changed the oil. I had to go
and request a windshield sticker for mileage since they forgot that
then I noticed the windshield fluid light on. I also noticed on the
sheet that they stated windshield washer fluid leaks. Never did before
and had fluid the day before as I used the windshild wipers to clean
the window. Went back on the 11th to report this and one of the guys
said they would put in an incident report. No call back. On the 23rd
went back and spoke to Ed the manager. He said I would either hear
from him or Jodie that day or no later the 24th in the morning. I
finally heard from some guy @ 1:50 in the afternoon of the 24th
stating that it was not there fault and if I wanted to have it looked
at by someone else I was to let them know first. I stated I knew they
were going to say that and I was taking it to the BBB. He didn't care.

Hummer Seat Damage
This is total bullshit! What
do you think I am lying to you? These camera shots are crap too. You
cannot see the mechanics back pocket at all (what you can see is 20+
feet away, how can you tell if he had something sharp in his pocket?).
You can also not see the mechanic getting into my vehicle to drive it
into the bay, and you cannot see anything regarding them driving my
vehicle out of the bay to the front of the building to install my
windshield wiper. Do you know if that mechanic got back in my vehicle
after he drove it around front at any time? Do you have cameras in the
front to video the service they did on my vehicle outside of the shop?
Does not look to me like you do! It is likely in fact that the
windshield wiper itself could have caused the damage and not something
in their pocket, since that is rigid with sharp edges. I have already
made a complaint to your corporate office as well. I can tell you
this. I have two vehicles, both come to Jiffy Lube at minimum 3 times
per year (I just changed my plates from Maryland to Florida so you may
not have that data on hand). I am sure I spend at least $500 per year
in service, probably more. If this is not corrected you will NEVER get
my business again!!!! Furthermore, I will file a civil lawsuit even if
it cost me money, just because it is pissing me off. Furthermore I
will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and place
comments on every Internet Blog and Review site I can find (Oh and
there are plenty, I’ve already looked (most are similar complaints to
mine too)!).
I went right in and showed the
manager as soon as I got in my vehicle. What am I supposed to do, take
photos of my vehicle interior every time I get my vehicle serviced? If
this is how you treat your customers, you should have a manager
inspect the interior of the vehicle before driving it into your shop.
I drive an expensive vehicle and I take great care of it. Do you
really think I would have not noticed a tear in my seat when I left my
house that morning. I may also note that I was wearing athletic shorts
on that day with no back pockets. There is no chance that I could have
caused that damage!

Transmission Problems
I had recently an oil change
and a transmission oil change on my Honda Accord 2002 (what they call
a drain as opposed to flush) at Jiffy Lube location and my car broke
down (First it started to jerks when I changed gears and it would not
move much when I shift In gears, later I saw smoke coming out of my
car) within an hour of the oil change. I took my car back in. They
looked at my car and informed me that the Gasket was loose and they
replaced the gasket and everything should be fine now. I drove it
around and found the problem was not fixed and looked at it for
another half hour or so and told me that the car must have had prior
issues with transmission as the oil was dirty when they changed it and
when the cars tranny oil is dirty and its changed it actually breaks
the transmission and the only thing holding the engine was the dirt.
So, my question was why didn’t they inform me that before they did the
oil change? I suspect that they screwed up on my transmission and
blaming it on me, may be the transmission oil leaked all over my
engine (as they admitted to the gasket being loose) or put wrong kind
of oil in my transmission. But I am not sure as I don’t know much
about cars. This happened last Saturday. Could you pls. forward this
to the right person so I could get some advice on how to proceed with
this problem? I would appreciate that.

I went to jiffy

me. It took just an hour and a half. As soon as I went home, I went
to make sure that my car was cleaned and nothing was missing in the
back seat. I slammed the door and heard a clank in the back seat. I
opened the door and noticed that my door handle came off. I also
noticed that my old wind shield wiper was left hidden underneath the
hood and that my wipers were not on very good, with a screw missing.
I plan on not going to that jiffy lube or any other location for that
matter. I plan on letting people know what happened to me. The
service was poor.

They do not take coupons from

report them to the local Better Business Bureau and the federal trade

Differential Oil
On Sept. 1, my
husband took our 1999 Subaru Forester to Jiffy Lube store #492 for an
oil change. The car had been performing well, but we had driven about
6,000 miles since our last oil change, and were getting ready to
travel to Chicago to visit our children. On Sept. 4, we headed out.
After driving on the highway for a while, we noticed that the car was
making a whining noise whenever the accelerator was pressed. We
turned around in Des Moines and came home. On Sept. 8, we took the
car to our local Subaru dealer to have the problem diagnosed, not
suspecting that the problem had anything to do with the recent oil
change. The mechanics at Subaru told us that the front differential
had been drained of fluid, and that the transmission was trashed.
They said that while they could not prove it, their suspicion was that
the fluid had gotten drained, perhaps accidentally, at Jiffy Lube.
They quoted us $3800 for a new transmission, and $1800 for a used
one. The real kicker is that we just had a new transmission installed
in Jan. 2009 at a local transmission specialist's shop. This was done
when the car had 88,617 miles on it. When Jiffy Lube performed the
oil change, it had 94,264 miles on it. From Jan. 2009 until Sept. 1,
2009, the car ran just great, including taking us on a 3000 mile road
trip through the Southwest.
I know that
Jiffy Lube broke my car, but I simply can't prove it. When my father
and I went to Jiffy Lube to discuss the situation with their manager,
Jason, he basically told us that we were screwed because we couldn't
prove anything. He also got defensive when we suggested that perhaps
this could have happened accidentally. In discussing this with both
the Subaru dealer and the transmission shop, I was told that they see
problems like this from Jiffy Lube frequently. It's a shame that they
are even in business - I cannot believe all of the bad experiences
folks have had, and the fact that most just get stuck holding the bag,
like me. We opted to take our chances and have the used transmission
installed, so we can hopefully buy a little time to figure out what to
do. What adds insult to injury is that we just missed the Cash for
Clunkers offer. In the vehicle's current state, Subaru is only
willing to give us $1,000 in trade. I really feel stuck between a
rock and a hard place, and it's Jiffy Lube's fault. Jason even had
the nerve to suggest that if we'd let them do additional service on
the car besides the oil change, this never would have happened.
What? Give them permission to screw up my car even worse? You've got

Oil Leak & Mount Problem
1st experience. After taking my
car to be service at a jiffy lube in Sacramento, CA I started noticing
an oil leak on my drive way. Was not sure if it was my car or another
family member's car. After careful watching I determine it was my
car. Next time having taken it back to jiffy lube for the next oil
change, I explain what was going on. The service writer inform me it
was the oil pan screw not tightly screwed.
2nd expeirence, after agreeing to a tranmission fluid flush. They
removed the plastic underguard. Not putting it back. So now its
dangling. Took it to 2nd jiffy lube. THey supposibly fixed it. A few
days later its dangling again.

had crack the plate that seal it in. 2nd the filter put in incorretly
and is all bent up!

my husband because it just seemed too expensive. $55. He told me
they charged me for this "high mileage oil" that doesn't exist. He
also went back to Jiffy Lube and told them about it. They told him
they explained to me what they did. But of course they didn't tell me
that that they just ripped me off because that type of oil doesn't
exist. All they would say is there are several different kinds of oil
and they did not say there was one speciffically for high mileage. He
told them they took advantage of me and sold me something that didn't
exist and its not right. I paid and extra $20 and will never go back

Today, I brought
my 2007 New Beetle to the Monterey Ca Jiffy Lube. Rolling in, I asked
the man who approached my car what it would cost for a lube & oil
change using 5/30 synthetic oil. He said $42 plus change after tax. I
gave him the "thumbs up," and said "Let's do it."When I came to get my
car, the girl rang up an invoice for $75.90! I objected, citing the
quote given me when I drove in. "He must have misunderstood," was her
response.
They tried to
charge me $8.74 for 1.25 quarts of oil over and above the included 5
quarts. I objected vigorously and the manager credited it.
Honestly, this seems like an outrageous amount for such a "quickie"
job and six quarts of synthetic, which should cost maybe $30.00.

Price is Price
This is in
reference to all that have problems within the pricing! I understand
that poor service is poor service, but for complaints on pricing, well
that's just life. I hear complaints that Jiffy Lube's employee's use
sales tactics, dont give correct discounts, etc. This is the 21st
century, price is price. You wouldn't go to a supermarket, & expect to
pay $5.00 for something that cost $20.00 would you? Hopefully not.
Wherever you go, theres always sales, sometimes more aggressive,
sometimes not! I think that for all the issues consumers have had with
damage due to niglect, you are correct, & compensation should be
applied. For those that simply have nothing better to do than compalin,
& bicker about price, GROW UP! Lastly, if you truely think your dealer
is better, than you've just been sold, as their job is to keep you
coming back & spending more!
